SeaWorld Abu Dhabi on Yas Island on track for 2022

Newest attraction is making progress

Earlier this year it was announced that SeaWorld Abu Dhabi would be the next attraction to open on Yas Island.

Miral, the company responsible for destination management on Yas Island, has announced that the new park is now 40 percent complete.

The landmark project will be the first SeaWorld park outside of the United States and the first in the world to not keep orcas.

Once open the new park will also be home to a dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation and return centre, which will support regional and global conservation efforts.

The centre will be home to live studies into indigenous local species such as dugongs and sea turtles.

The 183,000 square metre park will cover multiple levels and offer an immersive experience for visitors from the UAE, the Middle East and across the world.

Six distinct realms will be featured at the park telling the ‘one ocean’ story, explaining the interconnectivity between all life on earth and the oceans.

“This is yet another great new addition to Yas Island’s immersive attractions and experiences,” said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Miral.

“It will help further position the island as a top global destination, and contribute to the growth of Abu Dhabi’s tourism vision.

“We are proud to have partnered with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment on this incredible project, which brings more than 55 years of expertise in marine conservation and world class marine animal care to Yas Island.”

The park is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.
