Everything you need to know about Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi

The Presidential Palace is back open to the public

Qasr Al Watan has reopened to the public.

The Presidential Palace, which was named as one of the best landmarks in the world last year, offers tours every day of the week except Mondays.

Here’s everything you need to know if you want to visit.

What is Qasr Watan?

Qasr Al Watan is a Presidential Palace that finished construction in 2017.

Before being opened to the public in 2019, the palace was used for official purposes including hosting foreign leaders of states.

In a bid to celebrate the heritage of the UAE, the venue was opened to the public for tours in March 2019.

The building is still used to host foreign dignitaries and for government proposes.

What is Qasr Al Watan like?

Qasr Al Watan’s façade is made of white granite and limestone and has intricate designs inside and out.

A total of 149,000 unique pieces of silver, crystal and china were also used withing the Presidential Banquet. 

The building includes a dome with a 37m diameter and a chandelier made with 350,000 pieces of crystal.

Where is Qasr Al Watan?

Qasr Al Watan is located at the end of the Corniche, next to Emirates Palace.

All visitors have to book ahead before visiting to be allowed access to the palace’s grounds.

How much does it cost?

Entry is Dhs60 for adults and Dhs30 for kids. All tickets have to be booked in advance.

When is it open?

Currently Qasr Al Watan is closed on Mondays but is otherwise open between 10am and 6pm on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and from noon to 7.30pm on Thursday to Saturday.

What is there to see?

Visitors are able to explore a host of facilities and attractions during their visit including the extensive gardens, great hall, visitors centre, courtyard and more.

In the evening a sound and light show brings the outside of the building to life and celebrates the culture and heritage of the UAE.
