Party like it’s the ’90s at the all-new Y Brunch

Some of us remember the ’90s. Horrifyingly, they began 30 years ago. But it’s not just the greats (Madonna, Nirvana, Sir Mix-A-Lot…) that we miss. It’s that more innocent age. Can you remember – or imagine – a time before iPhones? Before Facebook? Before (gulp) WhatsApp?

Okay, so some of those things you would certainly miss if you had to travel back in time – but with Yas Island Rotana’s brand-new, nostalgia-packed Friday brunch, you’ll get to experience the absolute best bits of the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s without having to give up the group chat.

Kicking off from Friday July 16, and spread across Blue Grill Steakhouse, Ybar and Choices restaurants at Yas Island Rotana, you’ll want to pull on your dungarees, scout out your most colourful scrunchies and dust off the platform sneakers to get well and truly into the theme. (Helpfully, all three of those things are so retro they’re now back in fashion.)

On arrival, prepare to be greeted by classic boom boxes and cassettes, with staff rocking the best – and worst – of ’90s fashion, while classic hits from the likes of Britney Spears and Salt-N-Pepa play throughout the day.

Tuck into dishes including prime meat cuts from Blue Grill, famed dishes from around the world courtesy of Choices, and crowd-pleasing nibbles and beverages at popular Ybar.

Generation X and Y are promised a “Tubthumping” time – thanks to activations including a live ramen station, live ravioli station, liquid nitrogen ice cream trolley and DIY drinks stations, too – while some members of Gen Z get in free, with all those aged under 12 offered free brunch when dining with their parents. There will also be plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, including cookie and pastry-decorating classes at the Y Brunch Fun Station.

Ready to go all out with your garish ’90s look? Then you’ll stand a chance to win a staycation and meal at one of six hotels at Yas Plaza, including Rotana, Crowne Plaza and Radisson Blu.
