New Abu Dhabi theatre to launch this week with special concert

The Cultural Foundation is set to open a brand new venue

Qasr Al Hosn is one the most interesting and fascinating landmarks in Abu Dhabi.

The ancient fort is an excellent place to explore if you’re new to the city or want to find out more about the UAE’s culture and heritage.

Housed within Qasr Al Hosn, The Cultural Foundation is another destination where you can see the works of contemporary local artists and learn about the wealth of creativity and artistry that has emerged from the capital.

This week on September 4, a new theatre will open at The Cultural Foundation to add a programme of dance, music and theatrical performances to the schedule throughout the year.

The 900-seater ampitheatre and performing arts space aims to be a community hub that brings together a diverse community of artistic talent from across the country.

To celebrate the launch a number of events are set to take place at the new venue throughout September, including contemporary and classical Arabic music, dance, and theatre performances.

On September 4, the 2350 BC Orchestra with Naseer Shamma will perform From Assyria to Seville.

The ensemble use a range of sounds including instruments in the oud family, mandolins, guitars and more.

Tickets to the 2350BC Orchestra with Naseer Shamma start from Dhs52.50 and can be purchased by visiting www.culturalfoundation.ae.

Reem Fadda, director of the Cultural Foundation, said: “We are extremely proud to introduce the new theatre as a hub of entertainment, education, and most importantly, enjoyment.

“With these new spaces dedicated to the performing arts, we aim to further Abu Dhabi’s offering as a place of cultural excellence as we welcome renowned local, regional, and global talents to perform.”
