New creative season set to launch at Abu Dhabi’s Warehouse 421

Workshops, exhibitions, film screenings and more

Creative hub Warehouse 421 has launched a new season of events.

Launching on September 14, a new series of events, workshops and exhibitions will celebrate the local arts scene and celebrate the venues fourth anniversary.

First up is the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF) for the Community & Critique: SEAF 2018/19 Cohort 6 show, running until November 24.

Focusing on the value of language as a tool for creative expression, works from 15 artist will be showcased.

Also opening on September 14, the Hollowed exhibition, a film installation created by Emirati visual artist Maitha Abdalla will explore the human condition in narrative form, exploring the themes of emptiness, memory, waiting and rebirth.

An exhibition by Talin Hazbar, opening in November, will also be on display as part of the new season, Structure of Impermanence, that explores the relationship between nature and architecture.

Cinema Akil will also return to Warehouse 421 in collaboration with Goethe Institute for a series of free film screenings and Gulf Photography Plus will continue their photography workshops during the season.

Faisal Al Hassan, General Manager of Warehouse421, commented: “Warehouse421 is continuing on its mission to aid the development of the creative ecosystem in the UAE and to achieve this, we have devised a new approach to our programming that will further encourage the progress of grassroots artists and push regional themes to the fore of public programming and discourse.

“The fall season will see public displays which share the works of emerging locally based artists, whilst our programming of workshops, talks and short courses will provide further opportunities for creative learning.

“We have also been working on developments within the space, alongside planning our four year anniversary in November, which will be a chance to reflect on the work which we have completed so far and opportunities for the future.”
