Abu Dhabi’s spoken word event Rooftop Rhythms to return for a new season

Back for another year but this time with a twist

Spoken word and storytelling is a treasured part of the culture and traditions in this region.

Keeping this alive and bringing it to the attention of a new generation, Rooftop Rhythms has been celebrating the power of words with live performances for nearly ten years in the UAE capital.

The collective stages regular spoken word performances in the city and in recent years the events have found a home as part of The Art Center at NYUAD’s performing arts season, that recently announced a new programmer of events.

This year, with live events taking a backseat for the meantime due to COVID-19, the show is going on but a little bit different to years past.

Starting from September 25, Rooftop Rhythms will return for the new academic year with live performances.

Events will be streamed live and budding wordsmiths are still able to take part and share their talent albeit digitally instead of performing in front of a live crowd.

A full programme of monthly events is scheduled until May next year where the season will culminate with a grand slam finale competition.
