Culture Summit Abu Dhabi is back for 2021

The theme for 2021 is ‘The Cultural Economy and the ‘Economy of Culture’

Good news culture vultures – Culture Summit Abu Dhabi is back for 2021 and with the theme of ‘The Cultural Economy and the ‘Economy of Culture’.

Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2021 will bring cultural leaders, artists and performers together for a thought-provoking forum of knowledge exchange, debates and policy development.

Partners for the 2021 edition include UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation), Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation & Museum, The Economist Events, Google, London’s Design Museum, UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), Louvre Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Foundation, Berklee Abu Dhabi and Institut Français. An impressive line-up, right?

‘The Cultural Economy’ is linked to the creative economy which includes advertising, architecture, arts and crafts, design, fashion, film, video, photography, music, performing arts, publishing, research and development, computer games, electronic publishing, TV and radio, while ‘The Economy of Culture’ relates to the wider cultural economy and connecting the behaviour of cultural producers and consumers.

The theme of ‘The Cultural Economy and the ‘Economy of Culture’ takes a look at the challenges and the opportunities of the wider cultural economy, plus collaborative approaches to building and sustaining cultural and creative ecosystems.

Sub-themes throughout the summit include ‘Post-COVID Sector Recovery and Transformation’ and ‘International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development’.

From Monday March 8 to Wednesday March 10 the summit will take place virtually from 1pm until 9pm each day and the exciting programme for 2021 includes keynote talks, panel discussions, one-on-one conversations, case studies, curated artist talks, film screenings and performances.
