Vibrant fall programme announced at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi

Now and into the Future will echo the UAE’s 50th Anniversary Jubilee

If you’re looking for something incredible to do this fall, look no further than The Arts Centre at NYU Abu Dhabi. Echoing the UAE’s 50th Anniversary Jubilee and the future orientation of Expo 2020 Dubai, the theme for the season is Now and into the Future.

As with every season at The Arts Center, you can expect to find music, theater, dance, film, poetry, and interdisciplinary performances from around the world.

Ready for some culture?

The programme features distinguished artists alongside student, faculty, and community productions. This fall, The Arts Center is also launching Numoo, an artist development initiative that will help UAE-based artists to develop their professional skills.

Artists will be selected from music, theater, dance, spoken word, performance art, and multidisciplinary backgrounds, and will receive training from a wide range of professionals in the UAE arts scene.

The fall lineup begins with the film, It Ain’t Where You From, premiering on Tuesday September 7 at 8pm, followed by a live Q&A with the creator. You can also expect to find a theatrical experience, Theatre for One: We Are Here (Nairobi Edition) on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays between Wednesday September 15 and Sunday September 26. This digital theatrical experience brings together one actor and one audience member with a series of six new micro plays.

On Sunday September 26, Sudanese-American rapper Oddisee, and Tunisian hip-hop artist Medusa TN, will perform sets filmed exclusively for JAM3A, an online music festival. The performance will be followed by a live Q&A with Saudi hip-hop pioneer, Big Hass.

On Wednesday November 10, at 8pm, sEODo Band will make their Middle East online debut. This performance will be presented in collaboration with the UAE Korean Cultural Center, and is a mixture of pop, soul, and R&B fused with Korean music’s rhythms, melodies, and stories.

Many of The Arts Center’s favourite programmes are returning this season. The Music Recital Series, which comprises of three concerts, will be back with classical and piano performances. CinemaNa will run monthly on Wednesdays through October and November featuring live q&a’s with leaders in the Arab film industry after each screening.

The much-loved Rooftop Rhythms is also returning monthly on Wednesdays at 8pm and is the Middle East’s longest-running open mic night.
