Six fun things to do in Abu Dhabi this week

See Abu Dhabi and the UAE in a new way at this stunning new exhibition

The show at Manarat Al Saadiyat features images taken from drones and aircraft

Sometimes it helps to get a fresh perspective on life, and that’s exactly what you’ll get from one of the latest art exhibitions to arrive in Abu Dhabi. ABOVE: Aerial Photography Exhibition is now open for visitors at Manarat Al Saadiyat, and it features images of the UAE, the Middle East and the USA, all taken from flying drones and aircraft.

Running from now until August 26, it includes works from Emirati and regional photographers sitting alongside images from international artists. Some of the artists and photographers featured include Martin Sanchez, Dr. Ahmad Al Rais, Bachir Moukarzel, Peter Jay and Huda Bin Redha.

From horse riders, to shots of the Dubai skyline, the collection showcases a huge range of amazing images.

In addition to the stunning photographs, the exhibition also a features a public programme of talks, workshops and panel discussions.

Whether you’re into photography or a bit of a drone enthusiast, you’ll find the talks from local artists and various representatives of the General Civil Aviation Authority fascinating.

These sessions cover subjects such as how the market for aerial photography has grown over the past few years, plus how the current aviation laws effect the art.

Participants will also learn more about how to fly drones safely and lawfully in Abu Dhabi and throughout the UAE.

This is the first exhibition to open in the photography studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat this year, and we’re sure it’s bound to attract a lot of visitors.

Alia Khalid Al Qassimi, head of Manarat Al Saadiyat, says: “This event allows drone enthusiasts and photography communities, as well as the general public, to come together to appreciate the art of aerial photography.

“This carefully curated selection of breathtaking photographs and videos taken from the UAE and abroad celebrates the numerous creative expressions of this very niche form of photography.”

So, if you want to escape from reality and see all the best sights from the Middle East and around the globe from the air, now you have your chance.
