All you need to know about the new season at Louvre Abu Dhabi

You won’t want to miss the latest exhibitions

A new season of exhibitions and events will launch at Louvre Abu Dhabi in September, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Entitled Changing Societies, the 2019/20 programme at the Saadiyat Island attraction includes four new international exhibitions.

The first new collection to arrive at the world-renowned museum takes visitors back to Paris in the 1920s.

Rendezvous in Paris: Picasso, Chagall, Modigliani & Co. (1900-1939) features more than 80 masterpieces that are being exhibited for the first time in the Middle East.

The artists on show include Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani, Sonia Delaunay and Giorgio De Chirico, and you’ll be able to check it out from September 18 to December 7.

Meanwhile, if you love the finer things in life, then you’ll adore the 10,000 Years of Luxury collection, which is on display from October 30 to February 15 2020.

Exploring the history of luxury, it showcases 350 extraordinary objects from the fields of fashion, jewellery, art, furniture and design.

Moving on to 2020, the first new exhibition of the year will highlight the stories of brave fighting heroes from across the world.

Furusiyya: The Art of Chivalry between East and West looks at how tales of knightly culture have been told throughout history, in both the Islamic East and largely Christian West.

Finally, film fanatics have a real treat coming up in April 2020.

Charlie Chaplin: When Art Met Cinema looks at the connection between some of the great Charlie Chaplin films and the works of some of the most famous avant-garde artists of the time.

Manuel Rabaté, director of Louvre Abu Dhabi, says: “This upcoming season represents our boldest and most extensive programme to date.

“Supported by our incredible network of international partners, we’re able to bring exhibitions of a quality and scale unparalleled in the region.’’

Meanwhile, Dr. Souraya Noujaim, Scientific, curatorial and collections management director, Louvre Abu Dhabi, adds: “Louvre Abu Dhabi’s cultural seasons offer an opportunity to further explore key historical and aesthetic episodes in history from our unique universal perspective.

“In Changing Societies, our main objective is to shed light on how culture and creativity have acted as a manifestation of shifts and changes in society and civilisations.”

We love it when we have so much new art to look forward to.
