Warehouse421 in Abu Dhabi

Need a creativity boost? Get involved with Warehouse421 activities

Is your day job taking up all your time and killing your creativity? Fear no more! Abu Dhabi’s newest arts and culture destination, Warehouse421, recently announced the launch of Wednesdays at the Warehouse – a curated programme of creative activities and events. Held every other Wednesday until April 27, the public is invited to take part in a diverse selection of inspiring arts activities including workshops, film screenings, panel discussions with experts and exhibitions. The Wednesdays at the Warehouse concept was created in response to the public’s enthusiasm following the recent launch of Warehouse421. Between November 19 and 21, 10,000 visitors attended the opening in the Mina Zayed district.

Budding artists in the region will be happy to know that all activities at Warehouse421 are free, with only a simple online registration required.

“After the success of the launch, we wanted to continue the celebration of arts and creativity in Abu Dhabi and the UAE,” says programming manager of Wednesdays at the Warehouse, Faisal Al Hassan. “Through a diversity of workshops, panel discussions, and film screenings amongst other activities, Wednesdays at the Warehouse presents unique opportunities for both the avid culture enthusiast and the artistically curious, to be part of the constantly growing art scene in the country.”

Wednesdays at the Warehouse consists of a programme of arts events and activities presented in collaboration with graduates from the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Emerging Artists Fellowship, who will be leading the workshops. Independent cinema platform Cinema Akil will be screening a variety of contemporary Arab short and feature films at the event. Lest We Forget, a major grassroots arts and heritage initiative that aims to archive, preserve and share vernacular photographs and oral histories of the UAE, will also lead selected workshops and panel discussions.

Through its art, cultural and heritage initiatives, the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation supports emerging artists seeking a career in the arts by developing their skills and talents. It also aims to build new audiences for arts and culture in the UAE, and connects local artists with international audiences.

“Both Warehouse421 and Wednesdays at the Warehouse fall in line with the Foundation’s mission to invest in the UAE by investing in its people, by supporting the talented and emerging community of artists and designers of the country, while continuing to engage the diverse audiences,” says Khulood Al Atiyat of the foundation.
Until Wed April 27. For more details on Wednesdays at the Warehouse and the exhibitions held at Warehouse421, visit www.warehouse421.ae.
