Looking for a vegan-friendly bite to eat in our fair capital? And no – we’re not talking about limp lettuce with a side of tofu.

Being vegan in Abu Dhabi has never been easier and nowadays most restaurants have an interesting selection (you know – not a salad) of vegan dishes on their menu.

If you’re looking to curb those vegan “junk” food cravings in Abu Dhabi, here are five of our all-time favourite dishes.

Colourful, fun and packed full of flavour, these vegan delights prove that plant-based munching is the opposite of boring.

BLOOM Vegan Kitchen

This has got to count for at least three of your five a day, right? This delivery-only, environmentally-conscious brand serves up tasty plates which are all 100 percent vegan-friendly and served in packaging which is 90 percent recyclable.

Café 302

Café 302 is one of those impossibly cool places with a strong focus on delicious vegan-friendly food, and the vegan burgers are good enough to convert even the most stubborn non-believer to the plant-based lifestyle.

COCO Asia

Oodles of noodles, cracking curries and more, COCA Asia specialises in pan-Asian dishes and healthy bowls and if you have a sweet tooth, the homemade vegan coconut ice cream is a winner.

Freedom Pizza

The pizza: cheesy, carby goodness. Freedom Pizza is a takeaway staple for vegans in Abu Dhabi thanks to its selection of plant-based pizzas. And this beaut? The Viva Las Vegans comes topped with vegan sausage, onions, mixed bell peppers, spring onions, herbs and that the oh-so-very important vegan cheese.

Wild & The Moon

A vegan cookie ice cream sandwich? Game changer. Trendy hipster spot, Wild & The Moon, serves up healthy dishes and drinks that are all gluten-free, plant-based, free from refined sugars, additives and chemicals and made from seasonal and natural ingredients. It’s practically the same as chomping on superfoods (at least that’s what we tell ourselves…).
