Expo Food Festival to launch on Monday February 14

Month-long culinary celebration includes Expo Restaurant Week, with great value set menus

Tick off a visit to another Expo country pavilion or try out another restaurant? It’s a tough toss up, but nine times out of ten, you’re going to find Time Out exploring one of the 200 plus Expo 2020 Dubai eateries. We can’t help it; our stomachs are in charge.

So you can imagine our excitement at hearing the news that the greatest show on earth is launching the Expo 2020 Dubai Food Festival.

The excitement begins on Monday February 14, with the launch of Expo Restaurant Week.

Expo Restaurant Week

Casual restaurants at Expo, will be offering two-course menus for Dhs95 and three courses for Dhs150, while the fine dining venues will have menus priced at Dhs125 for two-courses and Dhs250 for three courses.

Restaurants signed up so far include Alif Café by Farm2Table, Kutir, Mudra, The National by Geoffrey Zakarian and Café Milan.

Don’t worry about only having a week to try all the fab deals; Expo Restaurant Week will actually run for a fortnight from Monday February 14 to Sunday February 27.

Foodies who participate in the event will also get a free Expo Season Pass Finale ticket, but reservations are required, and must be made at least 48 hours in advance. The free Expo ticket will be sent by email 24 hours before your booked time. Reservations can be made on the Expo website as well as on the Eat2Eat app.

BBQ Festival at Festival Garden

Next up for foodie fans is the BBQ Festival at Festival Garden, showcasing the pitmaster skills of Expo’s Dubai’s home grown and international chefs. Think Alkebulan The African Dining Hall, The Hill Country Barbecue Market, BBQ Shack, Mangrove Philippines Cuisine and The Local Farm by Mattar Farms, while Just Vegan is also getting involved to offer plant-based barbecue dishes.

The BBQ Festival at Festival Garden will launch on Friday February 18 and run until Sunday March 6, and feature live entertainment for kids too.

Dine Around the World

The third event in the Expo Food Festival lineup is Dine Around the World, a fun culinary challenge inspired by the success of the Expo passports.

From Monday February 21 to Sunday March 13, pick up an Expo Foodie Passport from one of the Expo Visitor Centres and work your way round participating outlets to get a special stamp.

Not only will you get to taste cuisines you may never have encountered before, you’ll also receive exclusive vouchers and the chance to win a rather fabulous sounding prize – two flights to New York and two incredible dining experiences – at Scarpetta Mercato and Dine at The National by Geoffrey Zakarian.

Taste buds tempted? Tummies rumbling? Stay tuned to Time Out for all the Expo Dubai 2020 Food Festival announcements.
