With trick-or-treat looking unlikely this year, take the spooky fun into the kitchen.
These four Halloween recipes from Marks and Spencer are easy to make with the kids and are even healthy’ish too (just don’t let the children know!)
Boo-nanas and marvellous mummies
Ingredients
* Bananas
* Wooden lolly sticks
* Yoghurt
* Black icing
* Toffee sauce
Method
Slice bananas lengthways and then cut each half into three.
Place each section onto a lolly stick and place onto a tray lined with greaseproof paper.
Freeze for 30 minutes.
Remove from the freezer and dip the banana lollies into yoghurt, and then add two eyes with black icing.
Add a drizzle of toffee sauce to a few of the bananas to create mummy bandages.
Place in the freezer until set.
Jack-o’-lantern hummus pots
Ingredients
* Peppers
* Houmous
* Cucumber, carrot, pepper sliced into sticks
Method
Remove the top off the peppers and deseed them.
Carefully carve a Jack-o’-lantern face into the side of each pepper and then fill with your houmous.
Serve with fresh vegetable crudités such as cucumber, carrot or pepper.
Cheesy snakes
Ingredients
* Puff pastry
* Cream cheese
* Eggs
* Sesame and sunflower seeds
* Pepper
Method
Unroll a sheet of puff pastry and add a layer of cream cheese.
Cut into long strips and twist.
Brush with egg, sprinkle over some sesame seeds and add sunflower seeds for eyes.
Bake until golden and add a small piece of pepper to create a tongue.
Apple monsters
Ingredients
* Apples
* Peanut butter
* Sunflower seeds
* Strawberry
* Black icing
Method
Cut apples into quarters and remove the core.
Remove a small section of the middle of each quarter to create a mouth. Fill the gap with crunchy peanut butter.
Add sunflower seeds for the teeth, a slice of strawberry for the tongue and icing eyes.
