You can now rent electric scooters in Abu Dhabi

Download and app, set up an account and away you go

There’s a new way of getting around Abu Dhabi.

Following the news last week that it’s now legal to rent e-scooters in the capital, a company has set up shop.

Circ says it wants to make travel “more affordable, convenient and responsible” in the UAE.

There are electric scooters now available on the Corniche, Reem Island, Al Maryah Island and Al Dana, though there are plans to extend the network.

All you need to do is download the Circ app on iOS or Android, set up an account, load your account with credit and you’re ready to go.

There instructions and safety advice and in-app tutorials. The scooters all have comprehensive insurance, too.

Once you find a scooter you can unlock it with the app. Geofencing means you won’t be able to ride it out of a defined area and you can leave it wherever you like within the area.

They go at 20kph as a maximum and cost Dhs3 to unlock, then Dhs1 for every minute you use it.

Happy scooting.
