Postponed events: new dates for UAE shows

Updates on Dubai and Abu Dhabi events, new dates and where to get refunds

In light of recent global events, a number of UAE concerts, shows and festivals across Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been postponed and rescheduled until later on this year. Below are events that have been postponed, here are all the new dates and how to get refunds if you have already bought tickets.

Dubai

Atlantis The Palm’s Cirque de Cuisine
Atlantis The Palm’s popular mega brunch, Cirque de Cuisine, has now been postponed until further notice.

“We’ve taken the difficult decision to cancel Cirque de Cuisine| The Rouge Edition, which was due to take place this Thursday (March 19).

The decision is in alignment with the UAE and Dubai authorities’ decision to suspend all major events due to the current circumstances. All ticket holders will receive a full refund, and this will be refunded directly to your bank in 7-14 days by our partners at Platinum List.

Our thoughts are with all those affected in these difficult times, and we look forward to sharing the date of the next Cirque de Cuisine in the coming months.”

Big Fish Comedy
In response to the current global climate, Big Fish Comedy has announced it will be postponing its shows in April, set to be from April 15 until 18, to later this year.

Ticket holders can choose to redeem them at the rescheduled show when announced or get a refund from the ticket platform. Tickets to the rescheduled show will be available on Platinum List and Ticket Lovers soon.

Dubai International Boat Show 2020
The 28th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show, which was meant to take place next week (Tuesday March 10 until Saturday March 14) at the swish Dubai Harbour in Dubai Marina, has been postponed until later this year. The massive marine event will now take place from Tuesday November 24 until Saturday November 28. A statement on the official Dubai Boat Show website reads: “While the UAE remains completely safe for travel, and has deployed the strictest medical and hygiene protocols, we fully recognise that for some specific shows, we have a high majority of key participants significant to the event’s programme that are unable to travel due to restrictions in their home country.” In better news, the rescheduled event will now coincide with Expo 2020 Dubai and promises to be bigger and better with more inclusive access for all.

Madness
The British ska punk band were due to be performing at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on Thursday March 5, but the show will now take place in November.

“Due to the current worldwide situation, the Madness concert has been postponed until Thursday November 12,” read a statement. “Tickets will be refunded or still valid for the re-arranged date, please contact The Irish Village for more information.”

Midge Ure
The Scottish musician and original Band Aid member was due to come to Dubai and perform his Vienna tour at The Irish Village on March 20, but it has now been postponed, with a date to be confirmed.
“Tickets will be refunded or valid for the re-arranged date,” said a spokesman.

Music Bank in Dubai
K-pop artists such as Twice, Seventeen, Monsta X, Jus2, as well as Exo’s Baekhyun, were set to perform at the Music Bank world tour in Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena but the concert has been postponed. Coca Cola Arena posted a statement on Instagram saying: “In light of the global developments around the COVID-19 virus, and the increasing number of infections confirmed in South Korea, Makestar and the Korea Broadcasting System (KBS), have taken the prudent decision to postpone ‘Music Bank in Dubai’ scheduled for March Saturday 21 at the Coca-Cola Arena. This is to ensure an uncompromisingly high standard of experience for all and to secure the best talents to perform for the large fan base across the region.We eagerly anticipate the event to return to the market in the future with new dates to be announced as soon as possible. Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund from their point of purchase. We sincerely apologise for not keeping the promise of the concert and will do our best to meet you again with some better news.”

Russ
American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer Russ was gearing up for a mega concert at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena at the end of this month (Friday March 27) but fans of the What They Want hit-maker will have to wait a little long to see him live in Dubai. The gig has been rescheduled to Friday November 27 and will still take place at the Coca-Cola Arena.

“UAE fans – in light of recent global concern regarding the Coronavirus I have decided to postpone my headline show at the Coca-Cola Arena to Friday November 27. I can’t wait to perform my first arena show in the region and look forward to seeing you all at this new date,” said Russ.

All existing ticket holders can receive a full refund at their point of purchase if they are unable to attend the new date, and tickets for the new date will be available soon.

SIKKA Arts Festival Dubai
Dubai’s annual SIKKA Arts Festival has been postponed to coincide with Expo Dubai 2020, as announced by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.

“There’s a change in the schedule for this year’s edition, from the planned March 19 to 29 to dates in November to celebrate the show’s tenth year anniversary as a special edition, with a more extravagant and enriched agenda in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood,” said SIKKA.

SIKKA Arts Festival is recognised as a platform for art, theatre, music, cinema and performing arts, bringing together emerging and established artists from around Dubai and beyond, with industry stakeholders, talent seekers and audiences from around the globe.

Specific dates in November have yet to be confirmed, so watch this site for further updates.

Taste of Dubai
The annual food festival was due to take place from Thursday March 12 to Saturday March 14, but has now been postponed until December 9 to 12. “Due to the continued global developments regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) and following precautionary measures being implemented by the UAE government, this year’s Taste of Dubai 2020 at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre has been postponed and will be extended for an additional day and take place December 9-12,” read a statement. “This decision was made after much consideration and consultation with our key partners and clients, and with the health and safety of our attendees, exhibitors and staff as our top priority. We believe this postponement is in the best interest of all participants to ensure we most effectively meet the needs of our clients, and thousands of local and international people of all ages who attend the largest food, music and entertainment event in the city.” All purchased tickets can be rescheduled to our new dates, or refunds maybe requested by contacting: helpcenter@platinumlist.net or calling (04 457 3212).

The Dubai World Cup 
The Dubai World Cup 2020 has been postponed in a bid to contain and prevent the potential spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, organisers of the Dubai World Cup have confirmed.

Scheduled to take place this coming Saturday (March 28), this year was set to be the 25th edition of the race. However, in the interest of public safety, and “to safeguard the health of all participants”, Dubai Media Office confirmed that this year’s edition will be postponed until 2021.

W Dubai – The Palm Sugar Brunch Amplified
W Dubai – The Palm has revealed that it’s postponing its WET Deck Palm Sugar Brunch Amplified, originally set to take place on Friday March 27. It’s stated that the music-themed brunch will now take place “next season when the cooler months kick in and the scene is set for an unforgettable day.” Brunchgoers can still expect live entertainment and performances from local artists, along with fun games, pop up shops, mixed drink stations and more.

Dates for the postponed brunch have yet to be announced, watch this space for further updates. In the meantime, W Dubai’s weekly Palm Sugar brunch will still continue, taking place every Friday from 1pm until 5pm.

Abu Dhabi

Big Fish Comedy
In response to the current global climate, Big Fish Comedy has announced it will be postponing its shows in April, set to be from April 15 until 18, to later this year. Ticket holders can choose to redeem them at the rescheduled show when announced or get a refund from the ticket platform. Disney on Ice
A statement from Disney on Ice said: “The health and wellbeing of everyone attending our live events as well as our touring personnel is our top priority, and as a precautionary measure, Disney On Ice scheduled on April 15 to 18 2020 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi has been postponed.  The new date is September 9 to 12 2020.”

Anyone with tickets will automatically have them transferred to the new show but if anyone wants a refund they should contact Platinumlist or the Etihad Arena

International Prize for Arabic Fiction awards ceremony
This event was due to take place on April 14. Organisers released a statement saying “The International Prize for Arabic Fiction has cancelled its 2020 awards ceremony, which was due to take place in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday 14 April. The decision to take this precautionary measure stems from international recommendations for the preservation of public health. Further details about the prize process will be announced in due course through the website and in coordination with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.”

Al Ain Spartan Race
The Middle East and Africa Championship race was due to takeplace at Al Ain Zoo on March 27, but Spartan Arabia released a mesage to say that in line with Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s instructions and to ensure people”s safety, the race was cancelled. Swim for Clean Seas
The charity event to clear platsic from the seas and beaches of Saadiyat island was due to take place on Friday April 3. Organisers say a new date will be announced soon. 

Laughter Factory March show
The monthly comedy club was due to bring its latest tour to Park Rotana Abu Dhabi on Wednesday March 11, howerver this has now been cancelled, with the organisers saying that regretfully they were told it could not go ahead. 

Vidcon Abu  Dhabi
The gloabl video content event has been postponed until December. In a statement, organisers said: “Our first priority is the safety and health of our attendees, sponsors, speakers, creators, and staff. In light of the recent health precautions taken by authorities worldwide to manage the current global health risks, VidCon Abu Dhabi will be postponed to December 16 to 19 2020. We understand that this news may be disappointing to our fans but feel it is best for all involved. COYA Equinox party
The latin restaurant has announced its planned party on March 27 will no longer go ahead. In a statement, the restaurant says: “While we understand that this is upsetting news for our guests, we feel it is the best decision for our staff and guests. Meanwhile, it is business as usual for the restaurant and the Pisco Bar & Lounge.”

Mother of the Nation
The festival was due to take place from March 26 to April 4. However, organisers have apologised and released a statement out saying “Out of concern for the health and safety of our audience, and in light of recent developments, the year’s Mother of the Nation Festival has been postponed to Q4 2020.

“This decision is the result of careful consultation with leading entities in the UAE following precautionary measures implemented by the government, and part of our ongoing commitment to the well-being of the Abu Dhabi community.”

All ticket holders will be fully refunded via ticketmaster.ae.

Kid Koala
The audio-visual performance from Kid Koala that was planned at NYUAD’s Arts Centre has now been cancelled. It was due to take place on March 12 and 13. 

Ultra Abu Dhabi 2020
The massive electronic music festival Ultra Fest that would take place in Abu Dhabi this weekend on Thursday March 5 and Friday 6 has been postponed. A statement from the festival said: “In line with our commitment to deliver the ultimate Ultra experience to our festivalgoers and as part of the local and international measures taken to ensure the health and safety of the public, Ultra Abu Dhabi 2020 will be postponed. The decision has been taken due to the travel restrictions imposed by some countries and airlines for individuals and groups. We look forward to sharing the new dates in the near future. Tickets will be refunded through the original channel of purchase or by contacting info@ultraabudhabi.com.” The new dates have yet to be revealed so watch this space for further updates on the festival.

ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi
A total of 3,000 participants, including 110 of the world’s elite triathletes, were due to take part in the ITU World Triathlon Series in Abu Dhabi from Thursday March 5 to Saturday March 7, but it will be rescheduled. An update on the official event website reads: “The International Triathlon Union, in consultation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, has taken the decision to postpone the 2020 ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Paratriathlon World Cup and Abu Dhabi Mixed Relay event as a precautionary measure to reduce the spread of 2019-nCoV Coronavirus. ITU, the local organising committee and Abu Dhabi Sports Council are looking at possible dates for relocating the event later on in March or April.” We’ll keep you posted with the new dates as soon as they’re revealed.

Club Social
The exciting music event in Abu Dhabi has been postponed, with a new date to be announced. Top artists including Liam Gallagher, Kaiser Chiefs and Clean Bandit were due to play at the event at Yas Links, Yas Island on March 12 to 14.

“This decision is the result of careful assessment and consultation with leading entities in Abu Dhabi,” read a statement. “Ticket-holders who purchased their tickets from TicketMaster will be reimbursed. For any further inquiries, please email clubsocial@brag.ae.

Yogafest Al Ain
Those who were planning on attending Dubai’s Yogafest this month will have a little longer to perfect that all-important downward dog as organisers have announced that the event, which was set to take place on March 5 and 6, has now been postponed.

Yogafest founder, Elaine Kelly said: “Yogafest is an event focused toward health and wellness and we believe that prevention is better than cure.

“In the light of recent events and the spread of the virus, it would be best for everyone to avoid public events and spaces, so postponing the event was the right thing to do.”

The event will be rescheduled for a later date, watch this space.

Ras Al Khaimah

Jeep Tough Mudder
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Jeep Tough Mudder scheduled to be held on Friday April 10 in Ras Al Khamiah has been postponed until Friday October 2. The decision was made by Sabco Sports.

The team “apologises for any inconvenience caused to ticket holders, but the health and safety of our Mudders and the wider community is our number one priority.”

As for current ticket holders, the tickets will be valid for the postponed event in October, while those not able to make it will be fully reimbursed by contacting support@toughmudder.ae.
