Community spaces in Abu Dhabi to be converted into stores for the public

Move to reduce supermarket overcrowding and improve supply

A host of new initiatives have been launched to ensure the supply of essential items in Abu Dhabi to help residents stay home amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Economic Development, in partnership with Department of Municipalities and Transport, the Integrated Transport Centre and Agthia Group, have introduced new measures to improve public safety.

Among the initiatives, community event spaces in the capital are set to be converted into temporary stores where the public can buy food and consumer goods.

Home online ordering and delivery services have also been introduced including deliveries carried out by Abu Dhabi taxis.

The new measures aim to reduce the number of people crowding in supermarkets and provide more options for the public to get essential items.
