Residents require move permits to travel in and out of Abu Dhabi from today

Here’s who qualifies for a permit and how to get one

On Sunday May 31 restrictions on movement in and out of Abu Dhabi were announced.

From today (Tuesday June 2) for one week, all residents and UAE nationals are not permitted to move between regions including Al Dhafra, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, as well as travel to other emirates.

In addition, entry and exit to and from Abu Dhabi is not permitted for people looking to travel to the UAE capital from other emirates.

Exemptions are permitted by special permit for employees, those working in vital sectors, chronic disease patients visiting hospitals and the transportation of vital goods.

Permits are issued by Abu Dhabi Police and those eligible to travel can apply by visiting https://es.adpolice.gov.ae/trafficservices/publicservices/movepermit.aspx?Culture=en.

Residents are however permitted to move within their region between the hours of 6am and 10pm in compliance with the hours of the National Sterilisation Programme.

The measures have been announces the help enhance the effectiveness of the National Sterilisation Programme in the emirate.

Recently the timings of the National Sterilisation Programme in Abu Dhabi have also changed to 10pm to 6am each day.

The new restrictions aim to reduce contact and stop the spread of COVID-19.
