Abu Dhabi has introduced a new system to cross its border and enter the emirates.
From Tuesday June 30, it is possible to cross the border without a police permit, but with a negative COVID-19 test that was taken in the previous 48 hours.
As of July 4, 2020, if you are from Abu Dhabi and leave to enter Dubai, the COVID-19 test can be from Abu Dhabi as long as it was taken int he previous 48 hours.
Goods vehicles and mail van, and government workers can pass through without showing test results. So can those going to Abu Dhabi for hospital appointments relating to cancer of kidney problems.
A border patrol has been in place since June 2, with permits required to pass through the police check points.
Now anyone wishing to cross the border must show a negative test result on the Al Hosn app or by text message. The test must have been done at any clinic or hospital recognised by the National Screening Centre.
Tests start at around Dhs350 each time and people would be required to take a new one every two days if they wanted to enter Abu Dhabi on a daily basis – however the government has advised people against that.
The new border regulations will be in place until further notice. Under 12s do not need to show the medical certificate.
It also applies to anyone from Abu Dhabi who leaves to travel to Dubai or any of the other emirates and wants to return.
