Dubai and Abu Dhabi named among the best cities in the world

The poll puts the UAE cities in the top 15 worldwide

We’ve known for a long time what others elsewhere are starting to discover: the UAE is an amazing place with wonderful cities, culture, attraction, traditions and heritage.

Now, a new ranking of the greatest cities in the world has recognised Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

According to the annual Best Cities report by Resonance Consultancy, both cities have been ranked in the top 15.

The rankings include cities with a population of more than one million people and is based on a number of factors including weather, safety, number of parks, museums, attractions and fun experiences as well as diversity, presence of global companies and Facebook and Instagram check-ins.

The 2021 ranking also take into account unemployment rates, income inequality and the rate of COVID-19 infections.

Dubai was ranked in sixth place, behind London, New York, Paris, Moscow and Tokyo and ahead of Singapore, Los Angeles and Barcelona.

It was praised for its tourist attractions including the Burj Khalifa, malls and activities, its diverse mix of nationalities, educational attainment and more.

Dubai’s outdoor experiences, which rank fifth globally, were a significant factor in the rankings, as well as safety and weather, which were both ranked eighth.

Further down the list, Abu Dhabi was ranked in fifteenth place for the 2021 list.

The UAE capital was praised for attracting international talent, ranking in first place in the foreign born residents subcategory and leapt 90 places to sixteenth in the rankings for educational attainment.

Abu Dhabi received further praise for establishing itself as a global arts and culture hub with Louvre Abu Dhabi pride of place and future plans to open Sheikh Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
