Updated rules for crossing Abu Dhabi border

There are no longer testing centres at the border

Abu Dhabi’s government announced that the rules for international travellers coming into Abu Dhabi would change from December 24.

Now, a list of ‘green’ countries has been drawn up, with anyone travelling from those countries able to enter the country without quarantining, subject to a negative PCR test.

You can read all about those changes and other regulations here .

Other changes with regards to entering the emirate were also announced, including for anyone crossing over the border by land.

Now, instead of needing a negative PCR or DPI test from the previous 48 hours before being allowed entry, the window is 72 hours.

Then, once in Abu Dhabi you will only need to have a second PCR test if you’re still in the emirate on the sixth day. Another test must be taken on day 12 if you are still in Abu Dhabi.

Quarantine for those who have been in contact with a positive case has been reduced to ten days, provided a PCR test is taken on day eight with a negative result.

Testing centres have also been removed from the border, meaning you will have to have proof of a negative test with you. You will no longer be able to get tested at the border.

Those who have volunteered for the National Vaccination Programme and volunteers in Phase III clinical trials who have an identification mark of the letter E or golden star on the Alhosn app are exempt. They are also allowed to use emergency vehicles lanes when entering the emirates.
