Eid Al-Fitr holiday dates announced for UAE private sector

It looks set to be a five-day weekend in Abu Dhabi

Get ready for a long weekend, as the dates for the Eid Al-Fitr holiday 2021 in Abu Dhabi have been announced.

The government has confirmed the Eid holiday dates for the private sector – and it looks set to start on Tuesday May 11.

Earlier today (Tuesday May 4) the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced a paid holiday for the private sector, starting from Ramadan 29 until Shawwal 3, 1442 Hijri.

With Ramadan 29 expected to fall on Tuesday May 11, the Eid Al-Fitr holiday could mark the first five-day weekend of the year.

Shawwal 3 is expected to fall on Saturday May 15 – however, this will be confirmed by the moon sighting committee.

The holiday for public sector workers will also start on Ramadan 29, which was confirmed by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources today (Tuesday May 4).
