Need we say more? Abu Dhabi’s first udon house, UDN, has officially opened its doors, serving specialty Japanese dishes that we can’t wait to try.
As the name suggests, UDN specialises in udon noodles: one of Japan’s most famous dishes. According to legend, origins of udon noodles can be traced back to over 1200 years ago, where they are said to have been discovered by a monk. This yummy noodle dish has been developed and perfected over the many years it’s been around. Warm, tangy, chewy and delicious. No wonder it’s so popular.
Located on Old Airport Road, UDN is open from noon-11pm and promises ample parking for dine-in patrons. It’s also fully cashless, so don’t forget your card.
The concept for the first udon house in the city was brought to life by Abu Dhabi coffee makers DRVN Coffee, and was founded by Rashed Al Fahim. UDN makes their noodles each day from scratch and in-house, ensuring your noodles are authentic.
You can have your udon served as traditional ramen, curry ramen or with chicken katsu. There are lots of options to start with, but this menu is just the beginning for UDN. The restaurant plans to add more dishes in the coming months to satisfy every craving.
While we’re sure you’ll be stuffed with noodles, the restaurant also serves other Japanese dishes and starters to try. You can start your meal with edamame, tempura shrimp or gyoza. And don’t forget to save room for dessert! Adorable little mochi balls and Japanese milk cake are both available for afters.
