Babies with unexpected jobs, icy action and massive explosions; what more could you ask for?

Do you consider yourself a movie buff? If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, you should definitely head to the cinema to check out the latest movies that have come out here in the UAE.

From babies who are bosses to thrilling action movies featuring cars (and camels) here are all the new movies hitting the UAE this weekend.

Boss Baby 2

Premiering Thursday July 1, Boss Baby 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to Boss Baby. In this feature, Tim and his Boss Baby little brother Ted have drifted away from each other, but they’re brought back together when Tim’s infant daughter Tina reveals that she’s a top-secret agent for BabyCorp on a mission to uncover the secrets of her sister’s school. Kids will go goo-goo for this film directed by Tom McGrath starring Alec Baldwin, James Marsden, Amy Sedaris, and Lisa Kudrow with music by Hans Zimmer. The film is rated G.

The Ice Road

When a remote diamond mine collapses in northern Canada, a big-rig ice road driver must lead an impossible rescue mission over a frozen ocean to save the miners who have been trapped. The Ice Road promises icy action and chilling scenes as the driver, played by Liam Neeson, has to content with thawing waters, a massive storm, and a threat he never saw coming. The film is written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and releases on Thursday July 1. The film is rated PG13.

The Forever Purge

Looking for a film that is a dystopia, action, and horror all rolled into one? In the latest installment of The Purge film franchise, the purge (one day where all crime is legal) has been abolished. A Mexican couple on the run end up stranded on a Texas ranch, where they are at the mercy of a group of outsiders who plan to unlawfully continue the purge. The film stars Ana de la Reguera and Tenoch Huerta; it was written by James DeMonaco and directed by Everardo Gout. It is rated 15+.

The Misfits

As UAE residents, we love to see the country we love featured in a movie. In The Misfits, a group of unconventional thieves plan to steal millions in gold bars that are stashed underneath one of the world’s most secure prisons. Their journey takes them from Los Angeles to Abu Dhabi, with supercharged engines, forged identities, multiple cons, camels, nitro, and massive explosions. We’re ready. This comedy was written and directed by Renny Harlin and releases to UAE cinemas on Thursday July 1. The film is rated PG13.

Monsters of Men

If you’re looking for a scary sci-fi film to watch this weekend, you should check out Monsters of Men. Step into a world where a US weapons manufacturer has created four killer robots and they have been released on the golden triangle in South East Asia. The robots go haywire… of course. The film was written, directed and produced by Mark Toia and stars Neal McDonough. The film is rated PG15.
