Cost of PCR tests in Abu Dhabi set at Dhs65

Authorities also announce two walk-in vaccination centres for school communities

The cost of a PCR test in Abu Dhabi will be fixed at Dhs65, authorities have announced.

Express services, which return results within one to two hours, are being set at Dhs350, or Dhs250 for results in two to five hours.

The announcement comes on the heels of the news that only vaccinated people with green status on the Al Hosn app will be allowed to enter public spaces in Abu Dhabi from Friday August 20.

Green status appears on the app after a negative PCR test result and remains for 30 days.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) said that an additional fee would apply to home-testing services, and that these should be organised through your local health care facility.

The department added that costs of a PCR should be covered by the individual if they don’t have any symptoms, otherwise fees are taken care of by government-funded programmes.

Meanwhile, two new walk-in vaccination centres have been set up to serve returning school students, teachers and admin staff in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

The dedicated centres in Mina Zayed in the capital and Al Ain Convention Centre are open daily from 8am until 8pm until Sunday October 31.

Appointments are not required, though students below the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Residents must present their Emirates ID at registration, while new arrivals to the school community will need to show a passport and residency entry permit with UID.

Registration also includes presenting an employee ID, employment or enrolment letter from a school, and displaying green or grey status on the Al Hosn app.

As per requirements for a three-week window between the two doses, all members within the education community are advised to receive their first vaccination as early as possible.

The centres offer first, second and booster doses Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinopharm vaccines.

The openings follow a similar pop-up vaccination facility at Yas Mall, where over 1,800 students were vaccinated.
