Wristband requirement dropped for people arriving in Abu Dhabi

People who have been in contact with positive cases will also no longer need to wear the watch

Looking to travel into Abu Dhabi from abroad? We have good news.

Due to declining infections, passengers arriving in Abu Dhabi airport will no longer need to wear electronic wristbands to monitor their home quarantine.

The electronic wristbands were first introduced to curb the spread of the virus.

The measure was dropped as of today, Sunday September 19.

Those who have been in contact with positive cases will also no longer need to wear the electronic wristband to monitor their home quarantine. Previously anyone in contact with a positive case would need to wear the electronic wristband during their ten-day quarantine.

Positive cases must still wear a wristband.

The decision follows the implementation of enhanced precautionary measures.

Strict adherence to home quarantine procedures and required testing schedules will still be upheld and healthcare systems will monitor patients to ensure compliance with precautionary measures. Violators will be reported to the Attorney General.

The committee urges all citizens, residents, and visitors to adhere to precautionary measures to protect public health and safety.

This news follows the announcement that you will no longer need to provide a negative test to cross the Abu Dhabi border from Dubai.

Changes come into effect as of Sunday September 19, making it easier than ever to cross the border in Abu Dhabi and travel across the country.

Previously, anyone who was vaccinated, or participating in a clinical trial, could cross the border into Abu Dhabi if they have green pass and an active E or star icon on Al Hosn app.

Unvaccinated individuals could also enter Abu Dhabi with a PCR test within 48 hours of entry, or a DPI test within 24 hours of entry, as well as multiple additional tests if remaining in the emirate – but this is all coming to an end with Abu Dhabi border rules lifted from today.
