World-famous tenor Andrea Bocelli will headline a glittering galaxy of stars who will perform at Expo 2020 Dubai’s opening ceremony.
The iconic operatic singer will be joined by Grammy nominated, Golden Globe-winning actress, singer and songwriter Andra Day; Platinum selling British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding; international mega-star pianist Lang Lang; and four-time Grammy-winner Angelique Kidjo in a star-studded line-up.
Also performing at the Expo 2020 Dubai opening ceremony Artist of Arabs’ Mohamed Abdo, much-loved Emirati singing sensation ‘Fananat Al Arab’ Ahlam Alshamsi; Emirati Artist and Expo 2020 Dubai Ambassador Hussain Al Jassmi, a trendsetter on the Khaleeji music scene in the Middle East and Internationally; rising UAE singer-songwriter Almas; and Grammy-nominated Lebanese-American singer Mayssa Karaa.
We’ve already had a sneak peek of what to expect from Expo 2020 Dubai’s opening ceremony (click here for that preview) but now the show-stoppers have been confirmed, excitement could not be higher.
Expo 2020 Dubai will run for 182 days from Friday October 1 through to Thursday March 31 in a worldwide exchanging of ideas and knowledge to the betterment of the global community.
And it all kicks off with the opening ceremony on Thursday September 30.
More than 1,000 performers and technical staff will draw on Expo 2020 Dubai’s theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ to whisk viewers away on a journey across the site and welcome the mega-event’s 192 participating countries in spectacular fashion.
You don’t even have to be in the front row at the iconic Al Wasl Plaza to catch the mesmeric curtain raiser either, with the Expo 2020 Dubai opening ceremony being streamed globally on Expo TV.
Tareq Ghosheh, chief event and entertainment officer at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “As the global spotlight shines on the UAE, this incredible, unforgettable evening will celebrate the collaborative, creative and optimistic spirit of Expo 2020, demonstrating our commitment to hosting a mega-event that will delight the world.
“Combining some of the most sought-after names in the world of music, live events and entertainment with the awe-inspiring, world-first technologies of the iconic Al Wasl Plaza, this is the ‘big bang’ that sets the scene for 182 days of visually striking and emotionally inspiring experiences, as we invite visitors from across the planet to join the making of a new world.”
