The world's first NFT chef is bringing a real-world experience to Dubai

A Dubai chef is combining his passion for food and art by putting his delicious burrata on the blockchain. The award-winning Alexandros Sperxos is the world’s first NFT chef to create a series of seven digital artworks – and fans have a chance to experience them at a unique glow-in-the-dark dining experience in the real world.

The Greek chef begins his art series with a digital artwork of The Harvest, his burrata salad with crispy tomato skin, Greek dehydrated olives and pesto.

The Ocean ‘AKTE’ shows juicy scallops glowing on a bed of citrus foam; The Hunt Meet Vitamins is a wagyu steak with purple carrot purée, greens buster purée and collagen sauce; while the dessert is described as a foggy Greek orange cake nestled on top of ice mountains.

Sperxos will also add two inventive and complex soft mixed drinks to his art collection: The Art of Vitamin made with organic earthy citrus and wild crispy orange cigars, and The Volcano, which includes smoky purple berries, as well as mint infused with wild bee honey.

These dishes will be served at a private glow in the dark event held at The Alley in Al Quoz, where bidders will be able to meet Sperxo. The event takes place at UAE’s first and only dark padel courts, which adds to the trending vibes.

“This is the first of many artistic masterpieces curated on a plate and I am excited to showcase them to the world,” said Sperxos. “My cooking ethos is to use the highest quality organic ingredients, and my style of cooking is always to deliver dishes with artistic flair, using shapes, colours and textures which create a unique culinary experience.”

An NFT (non-fungible token) is a unique digital file that’s stored on a blockchain network and cannot be replicated. They represent real-world items and can be bought and sold.

Alexandros is an award-winning chef from Kalavryta, Greece who is passionate about championing his home country’s cuisine.

He led three restaurants at One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai before co-creating Ena restaurant, also in Dubai, where he imported more than 200 authentic Greek products from small producers and farms all over Greece.

In 2019 Sperxos became an official ambassador of Greek gastronomy in UAE and has promoted Greek foods all over the world, including at Dubai Expo 2020.
