Eid Al Adha 2022 dates revealed

Dates for the UAE public holiday will be based on the sighting of the crescent moon this week

The expected Eid Al Adha 2022 dates are in.

Eid Al Adha is predicted to begin on Saturday July 9, according to a Twitter post from the UAE’s licensed news agency UAE Barq.

Engineer Muhammad Shawkat Odeh, director of the International Astronomy Center, stated that the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah is expected to be sighted on Wednesday, June 29.

However, due to weather conditions, it will not be able to be seen by the naked eye here in Dubai.

This means that Thursday June 30 is set to be the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah, with Friday July 8 marking Arafat Day. Arafat Day is an additional public holiday here in the UAE.

With this in mind, Eid Al Adha is predicted to land on Saturday July 9 and last until Tuesday July 12, this means that UAE residents will get a five-day weekend in July.

We like the sound of that.

The confirmed date for the public holiday is based on the lunar cycle and Islamic calendar, so the final announcement of these dates is subject to the moon sighting and will be confirmed by official government bodies closer to the time.

Eid Al Adha translates to the Festival of Sacrifice and is one of the most important dates in the Islamic calendar.

It comes after Eid Al Fitr, which this year was celebrated from Sunday May 1 to Monday to Wednesday May 5, which means we all had a rather lovely Eid break.
