Visitors to Expo 2020 no longer have to wear face masks in outdoor spaces, according to a directive announced late on Saturday February 27.
The event will not mandate the wearing of face masks at outdoor public areas from now on.
The new rules come into place following the announcement on Friday February 25 that the UAE is easing COVID-19 restrictions.
Wearing face masks is now optional in open areas across the UAE and mandatory in closed areas, according to the National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA).

At Expo, this means you can now walk around outside without wearing your face mask, but you will need to wear your mask inside pavilions and in other enclosed indoor spaces.
Event organisers are encouraging visitors to wear masks at popular entertainment venues with large attendance at Expo.
Rules regarding conditions for entry to Expo 2020 have not changed.
All Expo visitors aged 18 and above must show either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test taken within the previous 72 hours.
