Global Village extends 2022 season

The family-friendly park will stay open for an extra month, with Ramadan and Eid plans to come

Global Village is keeping the park open until Saturday May 7 this year.

The news was announced by Global Village on Twitter where they proclaimed “Your wish is our command”.

Extending season 26 came as a bid to give visitors the chance to spend Ramadan and Eid at the multi-cultural amusement park. They will putting on ‘Ramadan Nights’ where the park will open from 6pm-2pm and their Majilis of the World tent will serve nightly iftar and suhoor meals to patrons. Several pavilions will also offer a range of fast breaking foods such as dates in Saudi Arabia, and dry fruits in Afghanistan.

Opening in ‘seasons’ during the temperate weather, the world-themed park is famous for its live performances, entertainment and stage shows that happen every day (outside of Ramadan).

A highlight for this month is the global dance troupe Burn the Floor, who take the main stage every evening (until Thursday March 31).

Over 1.6 million square metres in size, this year the theme park introduced the Iraqi pavilion and added a Peter Rabbit Adventure Zone.

The concept started in 1997 as a number of kiosks by the side of Dubai Creek. After gaining popularity with the local residents, the multi-cultural experience then moved to Wafi City, where it stayed for five years, before moving to it current, enormous site on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road.

Now, the theme park sees more than seven million visitors a year.

Happiness Street Fest is running from Friday March 18 to Sunday March 27, and will see lively street performers taking over the park with their unique tricks.

Think Covent Garden style performances such as a giant balloon show, Charlie Chaplin inspired mime act, acrobatics and more.
