Mother of the Nation Festival returns to Abu Dhabi

Join in the family-friendly fun at MOTN on the Corniche

Looking for family-friendly fun in the capital? The popular Mother of the Nation (MOTN) Festival has returned to Abu Dhabi with food, music, art and tonnes of fun.

The event pays tribute to the legacy of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, and runs from Thursday December 9 to Saturday December 18 on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. Head there from 4pm to midnight on weeknights and 2pm to midnight on weekends to get in on the action.

Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) the event is all about family, community and the contributions of women. It honours the legacy of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

The event includes attractions, Insta-worthy signage, art installations, musical performances, loads of food and rides for visitors of all ages. There are six zones to explore, with sub-themes represented through the artwork.

Wondering which zones to hit first?

Inspire Space is a section filled with photo-ops including the dessert museum, MOTN funhouse and a manga and cosplay area. Head to Thrill Zone for action-filled activities that are perfect for families. There you’ll find a skate and parkour park, horror rooms, VR gaming hub, Rick and Morty laser tag, Jeep track and more.

Food Hub is a culinary area where you can eat your way around some of the best local and global food vendors with an art installation by Daniel Popper.

Looking to listen to some tunes? The Music Area is a live performance destination hosting international artists, DJs and musicians.

Hit up the Shopping District for a curated fashion and retail space (we hear brands like Dior and Chanel will be represented). Finally, Amusement Park will have exciting carnival rides and games inspired by massive theme parks from around the world.

You know we love a festival, especially downtown. We’ll see you there.

Dec 9-19, 4pm-midnight (Sun-Thu), 2pm-midnight (Fri-Sat). Abu Dhabi Corniche www.motn.ae.
