Why you should try the raw vegan menu at Al Meylas in Abu Dhabi

There’s even pizza, nachos and chocolate cake

Veganism has taken a big hold over Abu Dhabi, and now we’re spoilt for choice when we’re looking for a place to enjoy dishes such as plant-based burgers, jackfruit tacos and scrambled tofu.

The luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi also has a love for vegan food. In fact, Al Meylas lobby lounge has just launched a special raw vegan menu, and it looks all kinds of amazing.

Made with fresh, local ingredients and designed to fit in with a healthy lifestyle, the colourful dishes are available at lunch and dinner time, or at all hours of the day through room service if you’re lucky enough to be staying at this beautiful hotel.

The menu is made up of nine different dishes, featuring starters, main courses and, of course, desserts. To start you can choose from mixed field mushroom ceviche, baby gem tacos or raw kale Caesar salad, before moving on to devour a classic raw vegan pizza, nachos with spicy beans, guacamole, cheese sauce and salsa or pad thai with mixed vegetables and spicy sauce.

The desserts include a decadent banana pie, fudge chocolate cake and blueberry cheesecake. Where do we even start on deciding which looks most delicious.

It’s all 100 percent plant based, and the rules of ‘raw’ cooking mean that none of the food is heated above 47°C.

This is done to preserve the nutrients and enzymes in the dishes, reduce the amount of energy needed to cook the dishes, and also to keep the food in its most natural form.

The menu was created by chef Christian Buenrostro, who says that the dishes are “both nourishing and delicious, infused with flavours and ingredients authentic to the diverse cuisine of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi”.

If you’re sceptical about vegan or raw food, this menu is out to prove you wrong. So there.
