A traditional fish and chips shop has now opened on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi

The Chippy is finally serving

We’ve been searching for a proper chip shop since we moved to Abu Dhabi years ago.

Yes, there are lots of places to get fish and chips, and they’re usually pretty good, but nothing comes close to getting a supper from your local.

When The Chippy on Reem Island was announced it got our attention and we’d be lying if we said we didn’t check the Facebook page regularly to find out when it would open.

The good news is the venue is now open and you can get your fix of traditional fish and chips here in the capital.

Located at Mangrove Place near Shams Boutik, the restaurant is serving up chips, freshly made pies and fish goujons as well as chip butties (a roll and chips to those who are unfamiliar) and soon, over the coming weeks will roll out the rest of the menu.

When you visit you can order a selection of suppers including fish, chicken and more alongside a range of sauces including gravy and curry sauce.

Both the fish and the potatoes are being brought over from Ireland to Abu Dhabi to make the meals as authentic as possible.

The store also sells some popular British and Irish products like Brennans bread, Irn Bru and Lucozade so you can pick up these when you visit too.

Plus, in a few weeks time, they’ll even be serving the legendary Scottish dish, the deep-fried mars bar, which you can try for Dhs15.

That’s right, a Mars bar, deep fried in batter.

We can’t wait to get stuck in.
