Is there anything more comforting than the humble cheese toastie? Oozing with cheese, served in crispy bread, this simple sarnie is one of our all-time favourite sandwiches.
If you’re a fellow cheese toastie aficionado, we’ve got some gouda (sorry) news for you.
Popular Australian restaurant chain, Jones the Grocer, is set to launch an entire menu dedicated to cheese toasties.
The toasties will be made using artisan cheeses from Jones’ cheese rooms as well as chutneys, relishes, cured meat and freshly baked breads.
Highlights include the kimchi and truffle toastie (yes, you’ve read that right) with truffle gouda, chilli jam, mustard-mayonnaise and black sesame on house-baked white bread.
Love spice? The Bombay chilli-cheese toastie will feature a fried egg, green chilli salsa, crispy fried shallots, cheddar cheese and coriander on house-baked multigrain.
If you’re a pasta fan, then the wagyu spaghetti bolognese and burrata toastie is for you – wagyu bolognese and creamy burrata on Parmesan-crusted sourdough. Now you’re talking.
There’s also the togarashi chicken toastie with crispy chicken, cheddar cheese, togarashi, wasabi mayonnaise, fresh slaw and pickled ginger on house-baked white bread.
The menu will launch on Friday July 10 and there will be 12 different (and delicious sounding) cheese toastie combinations to try out, with two toasties being released each week. The menu will also be available for home delivery.
