How to master skydiving at the indoor flight chamber at CLYMB Abu Dhabi

Tips on making the most of your visit

Hot on the heels of landing two Guinness World Records, CLYMB Abu Dhabi introduced its ladies’ night deal. But this is not a place to kick back and chat with your gal pals, no, CLYMB Abu Dhabi demands a certain amount of physical exertion.

It’s now been open a year and the Yas Island attraction with the world’s largest indoor skydiving wind tunnel and tallest indoor artificial climbing wall is adding more experiences all the time.

There’s also a family and friends offer on until October 31, where you can get four tickets for the price of three.

To keep you in shape and ready to take on the challenges, here are eight top tips for skydiving beginners from the centre’s coaches

Wear suitable clothes

Make sure you’re dressed comfortably, so you’re at ease. You’ll be given the correct equipment before you enter the chamber, as well as having a training session.

Take notice of the instructors

When you’re in the flight chamber your instructor will communicate with you by using hand signals, so make sure you’re paying attention in the training session and ask any questions you have, too.

Have a good stretch

Limbering up is crucial before tackling any physical exercise and skydiving is no different. Make sure you give yourself a chance to warm up your muscles. Stretching will also help to relax you before the adrenaline rush of the indoor skydive itself.

Keep your chin up

We don’t only mean in terms of staying confident, once you’re in the flight chamber you should keep your chin up and your hips down, arching your body back. That way you’ll be in the perfect position to float on the airflow. Try to stay still but relaxed while the instructor corrects your body position and you’ll be enjoying yourself in no time. You can even practice the position on the floor at home.

Remain calm

It’s perfectly normal to be nervous before you step into the flight chamber but the more relaxed you are the more control you will have over your body movements and the better you’ll do.

Stay still

The less you move the better you’ll do at skydiving. Start with small movements and you’ll soon pick up how the airflow affects your body meaning you can feel what works for you and what doesn’t.

Remember to breathe

Indoor skydiving in an activity you can get the hang of after a couple of sessions, so as well as the tips above, keep breathing and you’ll be a pro before you know it.

Smile and stay positive

Remember to have fun, that the instructors are with you to help you learn the techniques and remind yourself that you can do it. Let go and enjoy.
