Explore the UAE in a unique way in these eight locations

There are loads of great ways to explore the UAE from the land, air and sea.

If you like burning off some energy, getting out and experiencing a different side of the UAE then getting in a kayak can be a great way to pass some time.
Whether you’re a newcomer or experienced with a paddle, there are loads of amazing places where you can get a life jacket on and use some elbow grease.

Al Zorah Mangroves, Ajman

For those who fancy themselves as bird watchers, the Al Zorah Mangroves in Ajman is right up your, street. An inland creek that extends over 2 sq km of rich wetland, there are around 58 different species of birds inhabiting the ecosystem among trees that grow up to ten metres in length. Even better, explorers can kayak through the mangroves by night.

Eastern Mangroves, Abu Dhabi

There’s a lot to love about Eastern Mangroves and the natural beauty of the mangrove park is clear to see even from dry land. Take to a kayak and you can paddle through the mangroves, see wildlife and even bank your kayak on the shore to enjoy a swim in the sea. Tours will also give you info on the local ecosystem, its significance to the local area and history in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Hatta Kayak, Dubai

The Hatta Dam looks like it could have been taken straight from a postcard. It’s surrounded by the lofty peaks of the Hajar Mountains and the blue waters are an absolute sight to behold. Get out on the water with a spot of kayaking from Dhs60 or venture out on a pedal boat for Dhs120 or a donut boat for Dhs150 if you’re with a few mates.

Jubail Mangrove Park, Abu Dhabi

Jubail Mangrove Park quickly became one of the most visited attractions in Abu Dhabi when it opened in January 2020. Aside from the winding paths through the mangroves, where you can go nature spotting and snap pictures for your Instagram page, there are a number of water sports on offer as well. Take to a kayak and you can go on a tour through the mangroves and admire the natural beauty from the water.

Louvre Abu Dhabi

Louvre Abu Dhabi
Louvre Abu Dhabi is one of the most iconic sites in the UAE and there’s more to explore at the museum than its collection. Take to a kayak and you can admire the incredible architecture from a new perspective by taking a tour around the structure in the water. Tours are available at night when you can see the dome light up the night’s sky or at sunrise in the morning where you can start the day with a paddle around Saadiyat Island.

Reem Park, Abu Dhabi

This park is packed full of ways to keep active, from the play parks and sports courts to the skate park and walking and cycling areas. You can also hop on an e-scooter to tour the park. By the waterside there are kayaks available to rent, giving you the chance to explore the mangroves or go out towards the sea for a unique view of the city.

Snoopy Island, Fujairah

Visit Dibba to try out a see-through kayak experience, meaning you can see the sea life  swimming below your boat. Paddle your way from Sandy Beach to Snoopy Island and make a few pit stops along the way to dive in and snorkel with all the fish.

Wadi Adventure, Al Ain

If you like your water sports with a bit of adrenaline thrown in, you’ll be in your element at Wadi Adventure. It is home to a 1.7km white-water kayaking channel, which also happens to be the world’s longest. The centre also provides kayaking lessons.
