Bootcamp at OCR Park

Encouraging us all to get active, the UAE’s largest permanent obstacle course has launched new classes. Open to people of all ages and abilities, OCR Park at Al Hudayriat Island has introduced new boot camp fitness classes for the new year. Helping people to improve their fitness and get active outdoors, you can try one of the classes for free as a trial to see if it’s the right workout for you.
Classes normally come in at Dhs120 but you can book your free session by visiting their website. Sessions take place throughout the week and over the weekend, and cover a range of disciplines and training, lasting 60 minutes. Classes are created to improve skills including grip, strength, cardiovascular and muscular endurance and core strength.

Cycle at Al Ain Zoo

Feeling active and up for an adventure? Al Ain Zoo has introduced a brand-new experience that requires a lot of stamina. Promising to be a load of fun for the whole family, the bike trail at the man-made safari park takes cyclists along the rugged terrain of Hafeet Mountain.

There are two tiers to choose from, one is aimed at mountain bikers with three cool tracks of three, seven and nine metres long.

The trails will take you along the bottom of the mountain and alongside the Al Ain African Safari, where you can look out for some of the zoo’s residents. The second is dedicated to younger riders and beginner cyclists on tricycles.

Get active at, erhm, ACTIVE

ACTIVE, located on the north side of Al Maryah Island, has now opened and become the newest sports and recreation destination in the city.
At the venue you’ll find three outdoor football fields, four tennis courts covering 3,200 sq m and four multi-purpose sports courts covering a whopping 4,224 sq m. For football, the facility is home to an outdoor FIFA-standard natural grass football pitch as well as two two-star artificial turf pitches. The sports destination will also be the new home of City Football Schools and LaLiga Academy. Facilities also include eight courts including ATP-approved tennis courts, basketball, netball, handball and five-a-side football courts.
In addition, three paddle courts can also be found inside the air conditioned sports dome alongside a full-size football pitch. Catering to people of all fitness levels, on site you’ll also find advanced sports equipment as well as expert coaches and trainers on site to help athletes and sportsmen fulfil their potential.

Work out for less at Umm Al Emarat Park

Umm Al Emarat Park has started the year with the launch of a new fitness loyalty card.

Abu Dhabi’s popular park is hoping to encourage the community to get up off the sofa and to incorporate some form of physical exercise into their daily regime. The loyalty fitness card is valid all year and costs Dhs499 per person.

Anyone who signs up to the fitness loyalty card will not only get unlimited access to the park for a year, they will also net exclusive offers and discounts on a selection of fitness facilities and dining options around the city.

Members will get ice-cool deals at BOUNCE at Marina Mall as well as the pop-up trailer at the park, including a ten percent discount for all BOUNCE fit classes and multi-visit passes. In addition, you will get a 20 percent discount at Green for Life along with 20 percent discount on Peak Fitness Gym memberships.

Umm Al Emarat Park has also recently introduced a 1.2km green jogging track at the park so you can stretch your legs there. Just don’t forget your FitBit.

Yoga at the Louvre

Fancy flexing somewhere different? You can now book a one-hour yoga session on Saadiyat Island, beneath the dome of the museum.

The 75-minute sessions will take place on Sundays and Tuesdays at 10.15am and 5pm and are open to all people over the age of 15, including beginners and experienced yogis. A maximum of 20 people can take part in a class, with strict social distancing in place and everyone must wear a mask. You’ll also need to bring your own yoga mat, water bottle and towel.

Sessions cost Dhs90 per person, but that includes entry to the museum’s permanent collection as well as the class, so you can check out the exhibitions, too.
