UFC President Dana White confirms five events for Fight Island in Abu Dhabi

Two main events and three fight nights will take place in the UAE

As we reported earlier this week, the UFC is returning to Abu Dhabi for Fight Island.

Speaking after Dana White’s Contender Series the UFC president confirmed that five events will be held in the UAE capital, including UFC 253 and 254 and three fight nights.

First, UFC 253 will see Isreal Adesanya defend his middleweight title against Paulo Costa, both of the fighters are undefeated in MMA.

Three fights nights will also be held featuring fight including Holly Holm versus Irene Aldana and Brian Ortega versus Chan Sung Jung, known as the Korean Zombie.

Perhaps the biggest event of them all, UFC 254, will see Khabib Nurmagomedov return to the sport in Abu Dhabi, a year on from defeating Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi, to unify the lightweight championship against Justin Gaethje.

Once again, the event will held in a bubble with only essential staff, fighters and trainers allowed access to the venue and surrounding area of Yas Island.

Fans will have to watch on screens as the fights take place on UFC Arabia here in the GCC.

There are plenty more fights to be excited about that are still to be announced, so watch this space.

More details and fights will be confirmed close to the time.

We’re already excited to the UFC back once again.
