Ladies Dash returns to Abu Dhabi

Everything you need to know about the capital’s ladies-only race

Getting fighting fit can be a lonely road to travel – unless you have a dash of inspiration to help keep you on the right track that is.

It is also a lot easier to get by with a little help from your friends, which is where the Ladies Dash comes striding into view.
The women-only event runs on the idea that hitting your fitness goals is far less troublesome to achieve when you have your trusty gang of girls in tow.

Its organisers are looking to make Wednesday, March 7 a ladies’ night with a bit of a difference – and are looking for
as many runners as possible to put their best foot forward for the ultimate evening out with the gal pals.

The fitness fest will get underway at 4pm on Al Bateen Ladies’ Beach at the aptly-named Activity Village, where you can try out a wide range of exciting sports and workouts provided by some of the capital’s leading gyms, clubs and trainers.

Participants will have the chance to check out guest speakers, demonstrations and performances on the main stage and get expert advice from nutritionists, life coaches and healthcare professionals.
The Activity Village will be split into four zones: sport and fitness; health and wellbeing; fun games and team building; and a dedicated kids’ area.

Healthy food and drinks will also be served up throughout the event to keep runners well fuelled.

The dash relay race will then be under starter’s orders at 6.45pm and is open to teams of five ladies.

As well as entering as a team, you can take part as an individual and see how your times match up against the competition.

The relay course is 400m long for each runner, covering a total distance of 2km for an entire team. Entries will be open to ladies aged 13 years and over.

As it is only girls allowed, the guys will have to sit this one out and no boys above the age of eight will be allowed into the village, either.

The Ladies Dash is being held under the patronage of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with support from the Department of Health and NMC Brightpoint Royal.

All runners will receive a race bag with their number, a T-shirt and some extra goodies, too.

A medal will be given to everyone who finishes the race, while shiny trophies will be awarded to the first three teams to cross the finishing line, plus there will be prizes for the best supporters and the best-dressed team.

Ladies can enter the dash representing their company, a running club or sports club or simply band together with a group
of family or friends.
