Where to meet UFC stars during Abu Dhabi Showdown Week

Top athletes are coming to malls across the capital

As UFC 242 comes to Abu Dhabi, all eyes will be on the Khabib and Poirier bout on September 7, but there are plenty more UFC athletes coming to town in the lead-up to the event.

Away from the Octagon, fans will be able to meet a host of athletes who will be taking some time out to sign autographs and take selfies.

First up on Monday September 2, women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko will be meeting fans at Yas Mall.

The next day, Tuesday September 3, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, will be at Yas Mall, Brazilian Claudia Gadelha will meet fans at My City Centre Masdar, US welterweight Anthony Pettis will make an appearance at Khalidiya Mall and you can meet Kyrgyzstani Shevchenko at Deerfields Mall.

American Thompson will be meeting fans again on Wednesday September 4 at WTC Abu Dhabi.

More athletes will be in town on Thursday September 5.

Henry Cejudo, who is currently champion of the bantamweight and flyweight divisions, will be at Bawabat Al Sharq Mall, UFC 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum will put an appearance in at Marina Mall, Mushrif Mall will welcome current number one in the men’s flyweight rankings Joseph Benavidez, and current welterweight champion, Nigerian-American Kamaru Usman will meet fans at Al Wahda Mall.

The final meet and greet will be held at Dalma Mall on Friday September 6, where Pettis will appear.

Pettis will be at Dalma Mall between 11am and noon, all other meet and greets will be held from 6pm to 7pm. 

A host of other appearances, fan zones and activations will take place across the city for fans to get up close to some of the best mixed martial artists in the world.
