Michael McIntyre to play Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena this summer

Stand-up star coming to the UAE capital

British stand-up comedian Michael McIntyre is coming to Abu Dhabi – and the announcement has earned him a little slice of history in the process.

McIntyre will be heading to the UAE capital on Friday July 16.

One of the most recognisable names on the comedy circuit, energetic McIntyre will arrive in Abu Dhabi with some serious billing, with his last show – Big World Tour – selling out more than 250 legs in 20 countries (that’s a lot of laughs by anyone’s measure).

In 2020 he released a headline Netflix special that went down as the most-watched comedy show on the streaming service for the entire year.

And he marks 2021 by being the first performer announced to play at Abu Dhabi’s new multi-purpose entertainment venue, Etihad Arena in Yas Bay.

The Abu Dhabi venue promised to attract global names for sporting events and live entertainment following its recent grand opening, and has delivered what is sure to be a knockout hit with one of British comedy’s biggest names.

McIntyre says: “I can’t wait to perform my Greatest Hits show at the Etihad Arena, Yas Island in July.

“This will be my first time in Abu Dhabi and I am excited to be the first performer announced to play this venue.”

When we say we’re taking out extra health insurance just in case our sides split, you better believe it.

Ticket packages including gig ticket and hotel stay for those travelling to Yas Island will be available soon.

From Dhs195 (tickets available in blocks of twos, threes and fours only). Doors open at 7pm. Fri Jul 16. Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, etihadarena.ae
