7 of the best things to do at Expo Dubai in January

From live music and interactive art to great food and all-new pop ups

If you thought the amazing exhibitions, impressive cultural events and exciting exhibitions that were laid on at the world’s greatest show last year were impressive, we’re here to tell you that in 2021 it gets even better.

Read on for all the most exciting things to do at Expo 2020 Dubai in January.

Attend a yoga practice

Keep those ‘new year, new you’ vibes strong and ensure body, mind and soul are in sync with an invigorating Sri Sri yoga session. During the free 30-minute class you’ll learn a series of breathing and meditation techniques designed to promote inner zen.
Jan 7-Jan 13, 10am-10.30am. India Pavilion.

Do Veganuary in style

Veganuary just got even more interesting thanks to Expo’s three-weekend long, plant-based food fest. From meat-and-dairy-free twists on popular street food eats to high-end fare, as well as decadent vegan desserts (there’s a stuffed cookies from Floozie with our name on it), the Middle East’s inaugural Vegan Food Festival is going to be a tasty one. It doesn’t end with food though; throughout the month you can also indulge in a vegan beauty treatment at the Botany Lab and browse your way through a pop-up vegan fashion market.

Sample gourmet eats

The eating extravaganza continues as internationally-renowned, Michelin-star chefs galore descend on Expo Dubai’s Jubilee Gastronomy Chef’s Table. From the cutting-edge, sustainability-focused dishes on Mikael Svensson’s Nordic-inspired menu, to exciting Indian fusion food from Jitin Joshi, nose-to-tail, zero-waste eats from Italy’s Antonia Klugmann and much more, a feast awaits.
Prices start at Dhs650, Jan 6-Jan 28, www.expo2020dubai.com/en/plan-your-visit/where-to-eat/jubilee-gastronomic-experience, book.jubilee@gatesdxb.com (04 317 7120).

See the Black Eyed Peas Live

Celebrate the fact that January’s almost over in party style as the Black Eyed Peas take to the Al Wasl Stage on the 25th. Proving once again why they’re one of the biggest bands on the planet, the event will be live streamed to millions of fans around the world as part of the Infinite Nights series.

Take in some tango (and hone your own moves)

Some of Argentina’s finest tango dancers will be sending sparks flying and showing us all how the iconic dance should be done with a series of twice daily Tango Flashmobs starting this month. Should their sensual moves leave you inspired, head for the Argentina Pavilion for your very own lesson in how to shimmy like a Buenos Aires’ local.
Tango Flashmobs: Jan 4-Mar 31, 4.10pm-4.20pm and 5.10pm-5.20pm. Al Wasl Zone.
Argentine Tango Lessons: Jan 4-Mar 29, 5pm-6.30pm (Tue & Fri only). Earth Stage, Sustainability Zone.

Test your grey matter

If you enjoy a good quiz night as much as we do (i.e are partial to showing off your general knowledge), rally the gang and make a beeline for Garden on 1 of a Tuesday evening. Expect a lively atmosphere, plenty of headscratchers and the chance to win great prizes.
Tue 11, 18, 25, 8pm start. Garden on 1, Sports Lounge.

Witness live art in the making

Watch in awe as a talented array of New Zealand’s finest graffiti artists set to work creating stunning Maori and Pacific Island street art designs at this immersive and exclusive-to-Expo 2020 event.
