kite festival on Sir Bani Yas Island

Join a huge kite festival on Sir Bani Yas Island

Make your own kite and fly it at this breezy event

Love seeing colourful kites floating across the sky? The annual Kite Fest is back at Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island. Get ready to soar.

Kite Fest kicks off on Saturday March 26 at 11.30am. Families will make their own kites and fly them from the island’s calm beaches. The event also has free snacks and music to enjoy from 5pm onwards, plus entertainment for the kiddos. There have been more than 300 attendees at the last three kite fest events – it’s the perfect excuse to visit this remote area of Abu Dhabi.

The family-friendly Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Kite Fest is Dhs300 per adult and Dhs150 for kids aged five to 12. The ticket includes boat transportation to the island and around the island during the event.

Don’t want to build or fly your own kite? You can also spend the day at the beach while the kites fly cheerfully in the background.

If you are planning to make your own kite, there are prizes up for grabs. Prizes include most creative kite, largest kite and best animal-shaped kite. There are free kite kits so you can make your kite from scratch on site or supplement a homemade creation.

Looking to extend your visit? There’s a camping package available for adventure-seekers. Guests arrive at Sir Bani Yas Island a day before the event and spend the night camping in the heart of the wildlife park, followed by the Kite Fest. Sir Bani Yas Island is famous for its Arabian Wildlife Park, archeological sites and salt dome hills.

The camping package is Dhs650 per adult and Dhs325 per child aged five to 12.
