Virtual summer camp for kids to learn about media industries launches in Abu Dhabi

There are camps for two age groups

Abu Dhabi’s media hub TwoFour54 is launching an online summer camp this year, offering interactive workshops and a virtual closing ceremony.

Sessions will be conducted on Zoom with a host of media experts from the capital and will cover social media ethics and copyright, editing, photography, filming and putting the final touches on videos.

There will also be lessons on branding, podcasting, storytelling and storyboarding.

The camp is one-week long and includes an interactive sessions from 11am to 1.45pm then a follow-up session between 3pm and 4pm. All students will receive session materials, stationary and required documents before the camp begins.

Michael Garin, CEO of twofour54 Abu Dhabi, said: “The programme has grown from strength to strength over the past five years, offering more than 160 children the unique chance to learn about the ever-evolving media industry from the pioneering experts within twofour54’s community. This year’s virtual edition – a first for us – reflects our ability to quickly adapt to a rapidly changing environment and underscores our commitment to empowering our youth and developing and nurturing the media community.”

The first camp will run from July 12 to 16 and has theme of ‘gratitude’. Children between ten and 12 years old will have to develop a video expressing appreciation for frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.

Teenagers from 13 to 15 years old can join the camp from July 19 to 23 about “The Future Influencers”. It will focus on developing a personal brand and creating content for social media.

The camps cost Dhs450 and you can register here.
