Flights from the UAE will now be suspended from 11.59pm on Tuesday March 24

The government has brought forward the suspension

The UAE has brought forward its supension of flights to 11.59pm today (Tuesday March 24). 

Updates were made to the information on the home page of Dubai Airports’ website here and on Abu Dhabi International Airport’s website here.

The information from Dubai says: “In these unprecedented times of uncertainty, the decision has been made by the UAE authorities to suspend all inbound and outbound passenger flights, and the transit of airline passengers in the UAE, for two weeks, subject to reassessment, as part of the precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of COVID-19, starting at 11.59pm on Tuesday March 24.

“During this time, vital cargo and emergency evacuation flights will operate, however all other flights will come to a temporary halt and our two airports – Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) – will be closed to the travelling public until further notice.

“We thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging situation. At Dubai Airports we are fully committed to supporting the measures being taken to ensure the health and safety of our valued customers, our community and our employees.

“While these measures are being taken we will continue to work closely with airlines, control authorities, service partners and the authorities to ensure we are ready to resume operations once it is deemed safe to do so.

“Until that time, we urge you to stay safe.”

The information was also released on the aiports’ Twitter account. 

On the Abu Dhabi site, the message is similar. It says: “As per the directives of the UAE government, we would like to inform you that all passenger flights to, from and through AUH will be temporarily suspended starting March 24 at 23.59 UAE time for two weeks except cargo and evacuation flights.”

The official Twitter account also shared the information.
