Etihad airways announces select inbound flights to Abu Dhabi for residents

Flights will come from London, Manila and more from Saturday May 9

Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways is to start operating inbound flights from a limited number of cities from tomorrow (Saturday May 9).

The first inbound flight will be from London, and will allow UAE residents to return to the UAE.

Until now only outbound flights for repatriation have been operated by the airline.

Passengers must apply for Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship approval via the UAE Twajudi Resident service, available at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation website.

“At this time we are operating special flights to and from Abu Dhabi,” read a statement.

“Working closely with the UAE Government and Global Aviation Authorities, our aim is to gradually return to a fuller schedule as soon as circumstances allow. While our network is under continuous review, it remains on sale. All bookings made after 29 April 2020 for travel ‪between 16 June and 31 August 2020, are fully flexible and refundable.”

If your application is successful, you’ll receive a unique ICA approval number, which you will have to provide to the airline when you book.

You must hold a valid UAE resident visa and have the ICA approval number or you will not be permitted to enter the UAE.

Passengers will go through thermal testing and more when they arrive into Abu Dhabi, and are required to self-isolate for 14 days.

A list of flights is now on Etihad Airways website.

At the end of April Etihad Airways announced more passenger flights and destinations flying from the UAE capital, including increased frequency to previously announced destinations, and the adding flights to Dublin and New York.

The flights allow foreign nationals the opportunity to travel outside of the UAE as well as carrying essential cargo items including medical supplies overseas. Return flights also allowed UAE citizens overseas to travel back to the UAE.
