Travel corridor opens between UAE and Greece

Vaccinated travellers from the UAE can now visit Greece and Seychelles without quarantining

Got the travel bug? Two new travel corridors have opened up quarantine-free holiday options for fully vaccinated UAE residents and citizens.

As of Tuesday May 18, passengers will be able to fly in from Greece without having to follow strict COVID-19 precautions around air travel.

The reverse trip, and its lack of an isolation period, is already possible, with Greece and the UAE confirming mutual recognition of vaccination certificates issued by health authorities in the two countries.

Other preventative measures in each nation will need to be followed as per local government guidelines, including the wearing of masks and adequate social distancing.

All passengers will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against the virus ahead of departure.

In the case of Dubai and Abu Dhabi-based citizens and residents, this information is stored digitally on the Dubai Health Authority and Al Hosn apps.

Some airlines, including Dubai carrier Emirates, have introduced a full digital verification of traveller medical records.

Meanwhile, a similar travel corridor has been set up between the UAE and the Seychelles.

Quarantine-free travel has been in place between the two countries since Thursday May 13, and Both Etihad and Emirates are already operating services to the islands, which are located off the East coast of Africa in the India Ocean.

The announcement is hot on the heels of news from Europe, where EU leaders are planning to launch their own ‘digital green pass’, which will allow those who have received the jab to travel more easily within the continent.
