The new extension of The Galleria Al Maryah Island is now open in Abu Dhabi

Shoppers can enjoy more than 250 stores and loads of new places to eat

Abu Dhabi is about to get a brand new mall.

Well, sort of. The huge extension to The Galleria Al Maryah Island is now complete, and it was officially opened to the public on Wednesday September 4.

A whopping 250 new shops have opened in the new area of the mall, as well as more than 70 new places to eat.

Entertainment includes a flagship Xtreme Zone, and an urban rooftop parks to explore on the, erm, roof.

It has transformed the existing mall into a whole new kind of destination, says Gulf Related and Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure (MREI), the real estate arm of Mubadala Investment Company.

Daniel Parry, managing director, Gulf Related, said: “Our vision has always been to curate a mix of best-in-class venues, fashion, food, home and entertainment. As an Abu Dhabi based developer, we are excited to share our vision with our city and welcome everyone to their new mall.”

Ali Eid Al-Mheiri, executive director of the Real Estate and Infrastructure, Mubadala, added: “Before we opened The Galleria, we started working on its expansion with Gulf Related to create something unique for Abu Dhabi. Our vision was to create new experiences for everyone, every day.”

The new shops include highstreet favourites like Zara, H&M, Monki, Debenhams, fashion brand Missguided and the sporting superstore Decathlon.

Meanwhile, the dining options feature popular casual eateries like The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s and Paul Café, as well as the Central Kitchens dining destination which offers flavours from around the world.

There’s even a 21-screen VOX cinema if you fancy catching a flick.
