Abu Dhabi steak lovers don’t want to miss this

The Himalayan Salt Plate at JW Steakhouse has to be seen to be believed

Here in the Abu Dhabi, there are so many places to enjoy fine cuts of meat.

The city’s steakhouses boast menus packed with the very best steaks from around the globe, and, if you’ve been here a while, you might be starting to think that you’ve already tried it all.

But JW Steakhouse has a dish that will make every other steak you’ve had in life seem so incredibly standard and boring.

The Himalayan Salt Plate that you see above is a magnificant beast involving four premium cuts of meat, tempting sides and tasty homemade sauces.

Confused about what the whole salt plate thing is about? Well, the meats are actually cooked at your table on a 600-million-year-old crystalised salt plate. Obviously, as you do.

The process involves seasoning your wagyu tri trip, USDA prime-black Angus tenderloin and dry-aged grass fed Irish rib eye and lamb cutlets with a choice of 18 different peppers (if you didn’t know that many peppers existed in the world, you do now).

You’re then free to grill your meats to your liking and tuck in.

Suitable for between two and ten people, you can take it in turns being the ‘grill master’ or nominate one lucky (or unlucky) person in your party to do it all.

But the sides are almost as special as the amazing meats. If carbs are your favourite food group (we certainly think so) then you’ll be pleased to know that JW Steakhouse serves every type of potato you can imagine. There are smoky fries with paprika and gruyère, mash with truffle or cheddar cheese, loaded potato skins, sweet potato fries and even more.

Other sides include crispy onion rings, lobster mac ‘n’ cheese (which is so good there are no words to fully do it justice) and healthier options like roasted carrots, charred leeks and creamed spinach (okay, that’s not technically healthy, but it is green). You need to check it out.
